We are The Grief Channel, Anne Kane Ph.D. and Bobbie Comforto L.C.S.W.

We are bereavement and trauma specialists and educators, both with individual private practices, for over 40 years. We have presented grief workshops and retreats, locally and nationally.

When someone experiences a loss, it can feel like your whole world has turned inside out. Many people lose all sense of normalcy and feel alienated from others. During one of the most difficult times of life, the usual and necessary life supports and resources are absent or changed. You feel lost at sea in a turbulent ocean.

A DAY OF HOPE, HEALING AND CONNECTION offers the opportunity for bereaved individuals to join with other grievers, while learning about and validating their own experience of grief. They will have the opportunity to discover new tools for coping, soothing and healing, while connecting to others, themselves and their loved one.

AFTERNOON WORKSHOPS

Navigating the Anxiety of Grief: Creating a Tool Box

Grief is often a destabilizing experience…It can feel like life as we knew it has completely changed. Anxiety is an under-acknowledged aspect of grief, yet it is present in every grief. Grief anxiety may take the form of generalized anxiety, panic attacks, agitation, hypochondria, obsessive-compulsive behavior, or PTSD. This workshop aims to provide each participant with a toolbox full of coping strategies to deal with these symptoms.

Presented by Anne Kane PhD

Softening Unresolved Issues of Anger, Guilt, Regrets and Resentments

There are many complicated feelings and thoughts that we can experience on the arduous grief journey. Sometimes feelings are unfinished or unresolved in the relationship with the deceased; there may be things that were not said, struggles that were suffered, ‘what if’s’ that persist, ’why’s’ that echo in the mind or anger that is disabling. In this workshop you will learn processes and tools to help you move from debilitating feelings and intrusive thoughts to a gentler place of understanding and resolution.

Presented by Bobbie Comforto LCSW

Using Imagery for Deep Healing and Connecting to Your Loved One

In this experiential workshop, you will have the opportunity to experience a variety of tools that can help you go within and uncover resources you may not have known you have; to restore a sense of calm and strength, to open to your inner wisdom and intuition, and to foster meaningful connections with your Loved One beyond the Physical realm.

Presented by Mary Beth White MS, RN, NC-BC, NP EMERITUS

Experiencing Mindful Meditation and Loving Kindness to Address Pain and Suffering

Mindful Awareness involves intentionally paying attention to the present moment, without judgment and with an open heart. It is a meaningful tool for gaining insight into one’s thoughts, emotions and behaviors, while embracing them with curiosity and compassion. Through Mindful Meditation, we cultivate kindness and self-compassion and learn to create space between ourselves and our reactions, which can help to address the stress and pain that contribute to our suffering. In this workshop, you will practice and develop Mindful Awareness of your breath, body, thoughts and emotions – while cultivating Loving Kindness toward yourself and others.

Presented by Barbara Feldman MSN, FNP, RN
